    the unit does not operate properly in air conditioning mode when the hose is placed in the window, would it be dangerous to operate without placing the hose in the window?

    If I place hose the in the window the unit makes a terrible screaching noise. Would it be dangerous to operate the air conditioner without the hose in the window?
