Symphonic VCR

VCR recording

I am able to view a previously recorded VHS tape, but when I try to time-record to my new HD TV, I just get a blue screen and noise. There is no HD box yet, waiting on that. The fact that I can watch a tape perfectly fine makes me think the cable connections are proper. Just something strange about getting the right settings for recording. Any ideas?
