Magnavox Portable CD Player AZ6841 MX01

Won't play

It was manufactured in 1995 but is still in great shape. I seem to have misplaced the owner's manual. When I place a CD in and press play, it starts but stops shortly after and displays an E. This happens with a pre-recorded CD or from one bought from the store. Brand new batteries are in,(which I doubt what the problem is). This happened once before and I fixed it. The problem is, I haven't used it in quite a while and forgot what i did with the manual. If you could shed some light on the problem, I would appreciate it.

    Bought a AZ6841 at a thrift store and it came with no instructions-can anyone help get the player wirking?
