Chamberlain Garage Door Opener 1265

my father has alzheimers and is forever messing with the multifunction door control panel. Is there a way for the outdoor numeric keypad to lock the door in the up or down position, thus overriding the multifunction control pad? Or do you have another suggestion? We have thought about installing a thermostat lock box over it but if the key is ever misplaced it would create a problem if there were ever an emergency and this were to be the only accessable door.
