Garage door closing problem

When I try to close the garage door by pressing the wall button, it does not close all the way down, and as soon as I take my hand off the button, it snaps back to opening. I do not have any problem with the opening. All I have to do is just press the wall button once. Can anybody give me a suggestion in solving this problem.
