Philips DVD Player MDV460

time display

My dvd player overall works, but when I press the "display" button to see how much time has elapsed or what chapter I am on, I get a block instead of a number. That is, instead of saying, say "Chapter 5/21" it will say "Chapter ", then show a white block, then show "/21". I can't find a setting that changes this behavior.
