Alarm keeps sounding while cooking

I have 2 alarms wired into 12' ceiling. Just in the last couple of weeks, whenever the toaster oven is used or the stove is used the alarms sound. The main problem is they won't stop until we disconnect them. Turning the power off doesn't help. The one 10' from the stove sets the other alarm off. Help! My kids are constantly disconnecting them and not telling me, so we don't have alarms for night time. What can I do? Thanks for any help/advice. Cheryl
