Sharp BA150 Protect Mode!!

For no reason this otherwise nice system went into "Protect" mode and won't reset. Checked speakers, removed and reinstalled, unplugged power for 1 hour per SHARP. Reconnected power after hooking up headphones per SHARP C. Service, still nothing. What's the deal??? It was gift, in the box two weeks ago. They said to take it to repair shop. B.S.! Its brand new out of sealed box!!!! Albeit 8 years old I found out. Don't want to have to tell friend it screwed up after two weeks.
