Sluggish movement and noisy motor

I moved cross country and did not get back on my treadmill because of the disruption for about two years. When I started it today (doctor's orders), I found that the belt was sluggish, and the motor noisy. I would expect that it needs some oil but did not want to start puttering with it without checking the user's manual. of course, (you guessed it) the manual has been lost or misplaced in the move. HELP!!! I need to lose several pounds fast.
