Honda Power Equipment Lawn Mower 4518
Hard to start - Honda is stumped

1995 4518, not consistent.
Trick is to pull the rear plug wire off, start it on the front cylinder. Let it run about 30 seconds, turn off, put wire on rear plug and it usually starts and runs smoothly. OR NOT !!!
Honda and two other Sacramento area mechanics $$
have replaced plugs, wires,
coil, carb kit, choke, fuel filter $$$$ and what else??
I forget.
I am 100% disabled and can't work on it like I used to.
BUT it is sitting waist high in my garage right now, with apologies to my Chevy Truck.
I rode dirt bikes for 30 years, so I can sit down & brain storm: New fuel line.
New filter. Check Float Bowl in case Sta-Bil went bad, check gap on plugs (they are a nice tan brown on the electrode, New plugs because we know even new plugs can be bad, cleaned the breather, cleaned all dirt off it, under it, in engine area. 175psi pressure, so I have to be careful there.
I might pull the plug cap off a little bit on the rear plug, let it arc...that worked on my foul tempered Honda XL 600 (1986), run it in clean area with no air filter(??)to see if it is being choked down?
It will run forever at idle.
I can drive to New York & back on idle, drop the blade and it dies. Full power is intermittent. It may run 3 hours or it may die, start, die, start, die, etc. until you give up. Outside air temp. makes no difference.
New Anti-Freeze in it, hoses
are fine, do not collapse under pressure.
MY PRESSURE SWITCH UNDER THE SEAT MIGHT BE BAD???????
Come on guys, let's brain- storm it. Honda gave up.
We bought it in 1995 after our house flooded. One acre back yard was chest high in thick grass. This rig drove right thru it. I love it. It still looks like new, been stored inside, in 14th summer of cutting 1.3 acres.
HEY, LOST THE RUBBER PIECE INSIDE THE FUEL CAP, I MADE ONE OUT OF TIRE CHAIN RUBBERS. Did I stop an air
release thing, sorry, having a morphine moment.
It takes air, gas and spark.
Ain't that hard guys.
BTW, original seat, tires,
blades, 2 belts, I love it.
