LG Cell Phone MG280

I bought the mg 280 on e-bay and the manual is in spanish and my at&t sim card does not seem to be working.

    Did the same for a present for my daughter's b-day. I had to prod him to even get the item sent to me, and when it finally arrived, guess what, it was locked. Or maybe cingular SIMs don't work in LG phones? Frustration where there should be none. We as a family have used our SIMs in a number of other phones that we picked up when other phones broke down. What gives?
