The power light comes on, but the system is not booting up, why (the monitor is good)?

    How do I know if the motherboard needs to be replaced? or power supply?

    When the computer boots, it looks for all hardware attached. Verify your keyboard is plugged in, replug to freshen connections. try unplugging all hardware except keyboard, mouse and monitor. Lastly when you turn on computer, press the delete key to enter the boot menu and verify that the computer see's a hard drive.

    check to see if fan is working on power supply. You may have the mysterious 'black death' which requires removing motherboard from case and reinstalling it. If this is beyond your experience it may be cheaper to buy a new computer than having a tech do it for you.
