I, too, need the 761 manual and found the following information in about 15 minutes through Google. I opted for the free PDF download, which is a little grainy but okay. Hope this helps.

I have this machine, and the manuel. thread through top thread guides,back to front, then down and up through the upper thread tension dial from right to left: thread take-up lever, bring down through thread guard and guides, through needle. I could send you a copy of the manual.
