i would suggest using a higher oil content than is stated on the bottles. believe i scored my piston rings by not using higher mixture.

have same problem. have cleaned carb out. filter in body of carb gets plugged with saw dust prticles. have to watch out for that. but also even tried to run it without in line filter and a perfectly clean fuel tank. still does it. new plug didnt help. and adjusted the pulley magnet a hair closer for better spark. all to no help. going to put new wires and new rings in and will see if that helps. if anyone has any ideas i would greatly appreciate it.

There is a small hole in the bar where it slips onto a stud that makes it possible to tighten the chain.....the chain must have been too tight and the stud broke off. I dont know what the part is called. Can it be replaced ?

Cannot determine where new fuel lines go. Is there a diagram that will guide me through the replacement.

Product Problem: High idle/stalling

Looking for any help. My Poulan 4218 just isn't running well. It sometimes idles high and the chain wont stop. Sometimes idle is good but when I try to give it gas, it stalls. Sometimes will idle ok for a minute then stall. It will sometimes just bog down while cutting too. VERY frustrating when trying to work!
I do know the gas mixture is good but have heard that if the gas is more tham 30 days old that could cause problems. I don't want to put tons of money into repairs, would rather put that money towards a new one. But would definately be one of the big name companies this time. Any help or advice is appreciated!
